Flowing water remained as words

Throughout northern India, including Punjab, the month of summer has been considered a month of rains, rising black clouds and rain-soaked clouds. If we remember the summer months in Punjab two or three decades ago, we remember the days when it rained for two or three days in this month, the courtyards on the raw buildings were cracked and even the roofs with tracks were tipped. The dripping water kept disturbing those sitting in dry places. With the rains, the raw yard, the path, the animal mansions are all filled with mud, mud. On the other hand, in the cold showers of August, the sorghum, millet, guava and sugarcane sown in the previous months would rejuvenate in days. Birds, pigeons, parrots, crows and other birds that live on tree plants around people's homes in the pouring rain. Encouragingly, they would spend many hours, and then when the rain stopped, they would go to great lengths to bite. On the other hand, even in the rainy days, the eyes of the people who were guarding the rings by making faces for the protection of the rings would keep on looking at the road coming from the village for hot tea as it would have been enough to protect them in the rain. Rainy days would have been harder than usual for cattle grazing in the pastures of Belais or Shamlats, as the wags, soaked in the rain water, would not have been able to sit comfortably in one place.

During this rainy month, the ponds, ponds and low-lying areas of the villages were flooded. The spontaneous flow of water from the Choi would close the people's crossings. The water flowing from the Shivalak hills towards the plains would take the form of floods, breaking the embankments built on the banks of the Choa and flowing into the villages. Gradually on rainy days spontaneous ponds, ponds and ponds would come to their limits and then the drained water would remain a means of bathing and washing people's livestock all winter and then till the onset of summer. For the children and other mischievous mundihars who reached the ponds with the bridesmaids who had gone to fetch solid soil to cover the raw yards and barns, the spilled water would also become a source of fun. Looking at these waters on light nights, the moon also at times seemed to be intoxicated and the deepening color of the redness of the rising and setting sun seemed to become more apparent. The snails and oyster shells that drifted from the mountains to the plains with the water of the rain gutters became the game of the children of rural life.

After the rainy season, when the farmers were enjoying the splendor of Dussehra and preparing to plant alfalfa and mustard, the wells of Bombay were filled to the brim with water. Strong-willed youngsters were called in to do the work of fitting water-pumping fans to operate the tubewells.

Now that the Punjabis have started building concrete palaces instead of trees and crops in the dunes and forests, the rains in the summer months have gone away from the people. . Punjabis have taken out crores of cusecs of ground water through submersible sacks in a single season to produce a crop like paddy. Punjab's precious water has gone to hell out of fear of Punjabis. But let the sacrifices be made by the people of Punjab who have taken an oath not to give up their insistence on consuming ground water for paddy cultivation even in low rainfall. Due to the closure of fan tubewells, water was being misused by drilling deep submersibles and now when even deep submersibles are soaking the water, deep motors are being used to pump water out hundreds of feet deep. Perhaps this trend will continue till the last piece of land in Punjab is removed. Not only this, the Punjabis have also disturbed the natural balance of the plains by breaking away from the cool shade and seasonal fruit bearing trees. As a result, the waters around the life of the people of Punjab are being drained away from the people. In Punjab, first wells were depleted, then taps, gradually simple tubewells and now even deep submersibles are on the verge of depletion. Excessive use of pesticides has made the foreign water of five rivers so poisonous that it is no longer drinkable. The arbitrary tendency of industrial wastewater to be discharged into clean water has forced the people and animals dependent on these waters to live a cursed life. The land of Gurus, saints and prophets, where the thirst for water was never a concern when walking on small and big hills, now has to be kept with a bottle of water even for a journey of 15-20 km. In Punjab, the land of five rivers, bottled water is being sold to quench thirst and the more people are serious about the environment, the more they may have to pay for breathing in fresh air. The water which used to collect hundreds of needs of the people by collecting them in ponds, ponds and ponds all year round on rainy days, is now far away from the people due to non-availability of these resources. With the construction of dams in the mountains, people have built colonies on the waterways and built concrete walls to stop the natural flow of water. The effect of human temperament and thinking has been that even the rain that falls through the clouds has changed its course. Now there are reports that the dams have been flooded due to rains in the mountains on rainy days, forcing the release of water from the dams. In the past, villages used to be flooded due to rains on rainy days, but now due to rains in the mountains, floods in dams have increased and excess water has been released in rivers. Innocent people living in rural areas are being hit again. Even if there is a problem with water scarcity due to the construction of dams, there is a crisis for the common man. If the water is deep then the tap in the yard of Hamatar is dry and if the toxins in the foreign water have increased then the child of the poor has fallen ill. The past was a million times better than such progress, in which the people of Punjab had the great gift of nature, water, to quench their thirst. People used to bury it and eat it to their heart's content. They harvested kharif seeds and made their livelihood easier. It was not necessary to apply more fertilizers or more pesticides to get higher yield by sowing three or four crops in a year. People were easy, mother earth was easy and the animals, birds and beasts that depended on it were also easy. People also had a time to enjoy life, including the shadows of pipals, bohras and tutas, the desire to enjoy fairs and festivals in all seasons, the passion for showing off the spirits in the arena and the passion of the youth. There were also. Now the interference of machinery in life has increased, but life is not easy to enjoy. Due to the utter carelessness towards nature, the nature of the seasons has also started changing. The water that rains from the clouds that give life to the people and the water that flows from the sand dunes is also getting away from the people. The only thing that can be said now is:

The clouds of the year climbed the mountains,

The green fields are filled with hail,

The tricks done till yesterday,

Came before the man,

Of flowing waters,

Memories remained.
